Fire ecology and bushfire management are core research areas at the Hawkesbury Institute of the Environment (HIE). Our research interests are wide ranging, including the fundamental biophysical interactions between climate, fire and vegetation from which fire regimes emerge, vegetation dynamics related to fuel accumulation and drying, fire impacts on vegetation and post-fire recovery, impacts of climate change on fire regimes and fire risk, and fire risk modelling. Our research is inherently interdisciplinary and collaborative.
